The Choir celebrated the end of their 10th Birthday Year with a fantastic concert in Elvet Methodist Church, the venue for their first concert back in June 2001. Members of the current choir were joined by former members from the last 10 years, to perform choir favourites including Contre Qui Rose by Lauridsen, The Battle of Jericho and of course their competition winning Bogoroditsye Dyevo. They opened the concert in style with the hugely challenging “Spem In Alium”- Tallis’ famous 40 part motet, and after only a couple of hours rehearsal gave a truly spirited performance accompanied by the talented Matt Howes at the organ. After an emotional encore of Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes” founder and conductor Andy King thanked the audience in a packed out church for their continuing support, as well all of the members past and present for their commitment and dedication, expressing delight that so many close friendships have formed over the years. A fantastic night, and plans for the 15th Birthday are already underway!
